The University of Pennsylvania's High Energy Physics group brings high school students and teachers in the Delaware Valley together to form the QuarkNet group. The QuarkNet group works on experimental projects in UPenn's laboratories, which allows the participants to use problem solving techniques and hands- on work building electronics equipment, programming, and updating the detectors to complete the experiment. While working on their own experiment, the QuarkNet group is exposed to a multitude of projects and lectures at the University of Pennsylvania. The full-time, six week program exposes the high school participants to college-level experimental research and other expericences that offer exceptional opportunities.
