Abstract:
B Physics in the 21st Century

CP-violation is one of the least understood phenomena in our field. The study of CP-violating effects in B meson decays will allow stringent tests of the Standard Model to be made and may point the way to New Physics.

Recently, 13-17 October, a conference called BEAUTY '97 was held at UCLA. The purpose of the meeting and its predecessors since 1993 was to study the physics potential and experimental challenges connected with the future generation of B-Physics experiments at hadron machines. This talk will be an adaptation of my Conference Summary Talk for presentation to a less specialized audience.

I will review ongoing and future experimental B-physics projects, including e+e-, as well as the highlights of the physics and R&D results presented at the conference. A critical comparison of the CP-violation B experiments will be presented.
