Electroweak Physics at LEP
Paul Langacker
Abstract
The electroweak program at LEP and elsewhere has
confirmed the standard electroweak theory at the 0.1% level,
establishing the validity of the gauge principle, the standard model group
and representations, and the principles of renormalizable field theory.
The standard model parameters are well determined, and the Higgs mass
constrained. The data places severe constraints on new physics,
strongly favoring decoupling physics (e.g., supersymmetry and unification),
over
TeV-scale compositeness. Precise gauge couplings provide a possible hint
of underlying unification.
