Closing the Gap: First Results from STACEE
Scott Oser
Abstract
STACEE is a new detector for astrophysical gamma-rays between 50-200
GeV, and is designed to probe a previously unexplored region of the
electromagnetic spectrum. This novel experiment uses the mirrors at a
solar power facility to collect Cherenkov light from extensive air showers
initiated by gamma-rays in the atmosphere. I will present first
results from STACEE, including observations of the Crab Nebula and
pulsar, and will discuss future prospects for the experiment.
