From the Moon to the Mines: Radio Detection of EHE Neutrinos

Abstract
Extremely high energy neutrinos interacting in solid material produce
electromagnetic cascades with a charge excess. Cherenkov radiation from
this charge excess is coherent at radio frequencies, enabling the
detection of EHE neutrinos in radio-transparent materials such as ice,
salt and the lunar regolith. I will present the results of the Goldstone
search for EHE neutrino signals from the lunar regolith and plans for a
cubic kilometer scale detector in a salt mine.
