2-3 Tbsp. olive oil
1 1/2 cups chopped onions
5 cloves garlic, minced
Canned tomatoes (e.g. 3 x 28oz crushed plus 1 x 14oz cut)
3/4 cup tomato paste
1/2 cup red wine
Chopped parsley (optional)
1 Tbsp. oregano
1 1/2 tsp. black pepper
Salt
Pinch of sugar

(All of these seasoning measurements are approximate.)
- Heat oil and saute onions and garlic until soft.
- Add all other ingredients.
- Bring just to a boil, then lower heat to simmer and cover pot. Simmer for 2 1/2 to 3 hours. Make sure you stir it once in a while and taste it occasionally to make sure you don't want to add more of any seasonings.
